Apple’s Motion 5 makes it easy to create filters for FCPX so I decided to have a go myself. I’ve made three so far:
If you’re interested you can download them below. To make your own you need to create a new FCPX filter in Motion 5 and set up a rig. The Motion manual should tell you all you need to know.
If you’ve found these filters useful please credit my web site in your production and remember to “Like” Honcho Media on facebook.

These FCPX filters are great. The letterbox offset is exactly what I needed and was missing from FCPX. Many thanks Andy
Great job! LIke the letterbox effect a lot! One suggestion or wish: could you create a version that also supports “Panavision” 2.40:1 (as in 1920×800)? That would mean a great deal.
DUDE! These are truly awesome. All so simple in operation, they will save me tons of time.
Really appreciate it.
You should make a set similar to magic bullet and I’d buy it in a second.
no problem. I’m glad you found them of some use. I don’t think I’d ever have enough free time to make many more!
So does this filter go into final cut or motion. because it’s not working for me. could you perhaps make a tutorial?
Great!
This is awesome! Thanks so much Andy! I found particularly amazing the alpha effect, was wondering if there is a way or how to go about constructing one that can change the highlights, midtones, and blacks independently? thanks!
it’s the same of letterbox effect! what changes? it would be fantastic if u create a generator which can be placed up storyline.
Thanks MATE! Hahaha!
Really, thanks. Nice work.
Cheers.

Frédéric (from Montpellier in France)
