Time Machine WindowThis is a small problem with a simple fix but might not be apparent at first.  I’m using an external hard disk connected to an Airport Extreme to backup my files with Time Machine over the WiFi network.  This is a pretty good solution as I don’t need to worry about plugging anything in to backup my MacBookPro.

The problems begin when you start to edit with Final Cut Pro.  All seems fine to at first, but once Time Machine kicks in, playback in Final Cut Pro becomes crippled with the spinning beach ball of death appearing for a few seconds.  The simple solution is simply to turn off Time Machine in the System Preferences.
