Promotional video for the 2014 Curadmir ulster cycling event. The brief was to produce a short web video to get across the message that The Curadmir is a tough cycling event for hardcore cycling enthusiast. It was refreshing to direct something that wasn’t all blue sky’s and perfect conditions.

Held over the 24th-26th May 2014, the Curadmir is designed to be one of the toughest and most spectacular multi-stage events in the British Isles, and is a fully supported cycling sportive covering 360 miles in three days through some of the wildest and most remote terrain in Ulster.

The videos were also shot over the course of three days covering some of the most scenic routes around Ulster in including the Mourne Mountains, the North Antrim Coast, Donegal and the Sperrin Mountains.

We went though a casting selection of a few voice over artists but in the end we wanted something that was authentic, so one of the event organisers, Michael Bear, convinced his dad to step up to the mark. He provided us with a VO exactly the way we wanted it.

Belfast Based photographer Richard Watson was commissioned by the event organisers to take the stills. It was a challenge working together because of the tight time constraints we had, trying to shoot both video and stills, but after day one we got into a rhythm and everything flowed well from there. Check out some of his ‘behind the scenes’ shots in the gallery below.
